Alamo movie set
This 50-acre movie set on Reimer's Ranch, near Dripping Springs, TX (outside of Austin), was built for the 2004 version of the Alamo. John Lee Hancock directed the film which starred Dennis Quaid, Billy Bob Thornton, and Emilio Echevarria. The set was considered to be the largest film set in the U.S. outside of Hollywood. It is now abandoned and falling apart. The future is uncertain for this amazing place. It may soon be demolished due to land tax problems.
Update -- Portions of the 2008 film Apaloosa, starring Ed Harris, were filmed at this location.
